I have been photographing people, places and everything else in-between for more than ten years. Photography was a hobby of my fathers and from an early age he encouraged me to take pictures of the world around me. His tutelage provided me with a great foundation to build upon, and fostered my life for photography. I was given my first camera by my parents -- a 110 film camera – not knowing where it would take me. But from that day forward I have kept a camera by my side; always at the ready to take photographs of anything that caught my eyes or my camera's lens'.
"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.
-- Ansel Adams
Driven by the passion I have for nature, I often find my camera focused on the world around me; animals, flowers and the ocean often find themselves in my camera's lens. This isn't to say that my camera just focuses on nature's beauty however. It also often finds itself focused on some of life's most wonderful and joyous moments. Special occasions like weddings are one of my favorites. They're a day of celebration – a once in a lifetime milestone -- that deserve to be celebrated, and most importantly, captured for reflection days, months or years down the road. Though I'm there as a professional, it brings me great joy and pride to be invited to document these celebrations. I can't imagine any job more rewarding than the photographer's; being entrusted to capture memories that can be shared for generations.
"It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary.
-- David Bailey
When it comes to taking photographs, my cameras of choice are a Nikon D40 and a Nikon N65. With digital being preference now a days, I do tend to use my D40 more then my 35mm camera, but I still prefer a old fashioned dark room to a digital dark room any day. No matter the format, I strive to provide my clients with the best possible pictures.
"All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this - as in other ways - they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it.
-- John Berger
